We took luxurious Merino wool, combined it with a durable polyester yarn and created a hybrid grid fleece base layer with that can be worn next to skin or as a second layer. Wool is naturally water repellent, odor resistant and stretchy. It’s also high wicking and feels “breathable”, all while keeping you insulated, even when wet. Merino sheep are bred to survive scorching summers and freezing winters. Their fleece has evolved to stay cool in temperatures as high as 86°F, or stay warm in temperatures as low as 14°F. Depending on your own body temperature and the humidity of your skin, Merino fibers in clothing respond and adapt to the conditions by either trapping or releasing heat just like they do on the sheep.

Functional fleece fabric engineering begins with an internal grid knit construction which increases warmth and breathability efficiency, while also reducing fabric mass. These geometric patterns improve compressibility, wicking, and add technical style. The exterior surface design has a smooth face, with excellent pill resistance. The overall aesthetic creates a minimalist design that maximizes fabric performance.

Level 2 is an important layer for thermal regulation. It helps transport moisture away from the body to the exterior of the garment while keeping you warm when you are static. Starting with fit, the athletic silhouette will accommodate another base layer top underneath. The fixed hood design is versatile enough to fit under a helmet or over a ball cap. A long front zipper makes for a quick vent when working up a sweat. A kangaroo pocket adds functional style points, while a hidden interior EDC pkt will hold your key fob & cards in place. Thumb slots help secure the sleeves and warm up hands during chilly days. Gusseted underarm panels help reduce bulk. Wear this top alone on mild days, or in combination with Merino base layer [L1] for cooler weather. Make it part of your cold-weather layering kit by adding an insulating mid-layer jacket [L3] or an outershell jacket [L5].
